SUMMER FLIP FLOPS DRESS : : SIMPLICITY 2339
Hi everyone! I won’t keep you long…just a quick hello and a few pics of my Summer Flip Flops Dress. Yep, this was one of my to-do items, and I managed to get ‘er done well before the end of summer. Virtual high fives all round!
Okay, this is a Simplicity 2339 make, this time with design tweaks at the collar and the front facing. After whipping up two Negroni shirts {still to be blogged} a few weeks ago, I knew I wanted a similar collar and front facing on my own shirt {dresses}. I find the flat, or convertible collar, both speedy to sew and tidy to look at. And what’s not to love about that? And….kinda, sorta to prove the point…if only to myself….I sewed a second shirt dress like snap…it’s an a-line version and I’ll show it to you soon. Seriously…now that I’ve got my dream shirt dress pattern, there’s no stopping me. At least until fall…then I’ll most likely be all about stitching crazy and colourful coats. Stay tuned!
By the way, last night I misjudged the light… hence the over-exposure on some of these pics….it ended up being not so much the golden hour as much as the orange hour. I tell ya, when we take these blog photos…and by we, I mean me flailing around in front of the lens contributing plenty of dialogue…Gimme bokeh! Closer! Farther! Is dis right? Is dat right?…and the mister impatiently snapping away behind the lens….something invariably goes a little sideways. Really…it’s often our own little Comedy of Errors {which coincidentally we saw just last weekend at Bard on the Beach. Brilliant, that was!}
And finally! The 40+ Blogger Meet-Up is a-happening this week! I’m really super excited to meet the many bloggers attending! Seems I’ll be doing my best to dispel some rumours too….Melanie has painted a colourful picture of me over at Bag and a Beret, and Suzanne has me talking like a sailor. Arghhh and Ahoy Mateys…amirite Suzanne!

Love your dress, and noticed my fav collar right away! What a great job you did on that!
Cute dress, I love fun, summery prints like that! I hear you on finding a favorite pattern, I used to have one for shorts that I literally wore out, I couldn't even tell you how many pairs I made from it.
Oh! You look so cool…in both senses of the word. Have fun at the blogger party and toss a few expletives around for me!
Very cute dress. I'm looking forward to meeting you in Vancouver!
That dress is so cute!!! I not only like the fabric but also the fit!

Ooh, will we be seeing this dress on Friday or Saturday? I will expect you to be the epitome of femininity, Sue, and swear like a proper lady, tee hee.
I don´t like flip flop in real life, funny shoes, hahahha, but i love them in print.
You always wear the most beautiful dresses.
Such an artist, dear Sue.

LOVE IT! I really want to find my own perfect shirt dress pattern. I just started with the popular McCall's 6696. I've made a few adjustments, but I'm not sure I'm there yet.
You are rocking this dress! Love the Bieber reference…. 😉
You look so great in the dress! Workmanship superb as always~
I am in love with A line dresses, so I am eagerly waiting to see yours! In the meantime I enjoy this Flip Flops one, which is delightful! And I am wondering if your passion for sewing is catching, since…I have just made a huge bag for the beach! And with a small rug!! For more details, more details on my post…if you like!
It's such a fun dress! That print is perfect for summer, and a good shirt dress will always be a winner. The comedy of errors during blog photo taking sounds familiar! Your photos are always lovely though!
I know all about the photographing bit haha. Been there, done that, got in a fight.
The dress is cute, or should I say, the fabric is cute and you have sewn it well. Of course you have, you are a master at sewing. With the right skirt length. It is just that with all those colourful dresses and the similar patterns, they start to look a bit alike. how about a solid colour next time? Or polka dots? Or stripes?
See you in a couple of days. With jetlag.

Shirtdreses for ever, you can never have enough of those.
Your blog makes me want to live in Canada! You are very inspirational.
Such a lovely, summery dress! I love how your makes are always so cheerful! PS: My husband and I are always a comedy of errors when taking blog photos. LOL
Lovely. An easier way to wear flip flops!

Oh how pretty! These pictures are beautiful sue!
That's such cool print!
Beautiful dress Sue, as always! I've been following you and the wonderful bloggers as you have the most marvelous time at the meet-up! So much fun and talent in Vancouver!
So cute! I'm so happy I'm stumbled across your blog today!
This is really cute! How adorable is that flip flop fabric?! although I have to confess to you that in my country we call those things “thongs”. Yes, truly; and yes, I also remember the looks of shock and horror when our family used the word during the time we lived in America! Imagine a little kiddie in the park yelling, “I'm just going to go and put on my thongs now!”
