Our Little Secret…
Pleated Skirt Separate Scene, thrifted and last seen here
Happy Monday Morning my friends! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I have a secret to share, one for your ears only. I told a lie this past week. Lately, while in various department and grocery stores, I have been approached by neatly dressed individuals carrying clipboards. In an effort to avoid them, I often find myself furtively back peddling down another aisle only to run directly into their partner in crime. Their mission? To sign me up for a store credit card. I always smile and tell them no thanks, and then they try and seduce me with free gifts, of which I politely decline, and on and on it goes. I understand they are only doing their job, and I have no intention of being rude, and well, I just find it difficult to say No firmly. Fast forward to last week and my most recent encounter. The young lady approached me with the telltale clipboard in hand. She began her silken spiel and I smiled and mumbled something to the effect that I had one thanks. And you know what? She walked away. Immediately. Done. I had fibbed, told a lie. But we were both spared that awkward dance; she with the verbatim pitch, me with an eye for a quick escape.
Anyways, we found a brief interlude from the rain and snapped some cheery outfit photos. I got this denim jacket at my local hospital thrift store on clearance for $2.00. I thought the applique on the left front was kind of goofy, but I discovered it actually looks quite cute with my flippy skirt. Spring is definitely in the air here. I hope the weather is being kind to you too.

Great outfit, the applique on the jacket goes perfectly with the skirt! And the hat makes me think of Anne of Green Gables.
I have to admit that I fib whenever I get phone calls from places wanting to sell something or begging money with the “I'm sorry, I can't buy/give/whatever because I'm currently not working”. They don't know that I'm not working by choice, but it always seems to work, and I'm hopeful that eventually I will be taken off all of those lists! A good response for those credit card pushers is “I don't believe in credit cards”–it's always fun to see the look on their faces.
Hey, if it got her off your back in a non-awkward way, then I say lie away! 😀 Love that bag – what an awesome thrift score.
I just hate it when people approach me like that too. I know it's their job but it is so annoying.
That hat looks like it needs to be on Boardwalk Empire : )
bisous
Suzanne
I don't feel I'm telling a fib when I say “I have one, thanks” Its true that I have a credit card just not the one they're selling.
Another great outfit. I absolutely love the skirt – so bright & cheery & the jacket is a perfect pairing with it.
Well that is a cute outfit on you!
Love the great styling! the hat is perfect!
Awww yeah the credit card people! I say no firmly put nicely
But it's the green peace, red cross, spca and all of those people i find hard to avoid or say no, i feel a bit guilty, i feel i should listen to them…

Love this fun look on you Sue – what a fabulous red bag. I do try to avoid the clipboard people too, but when cornered I try to give a firm No and keep moving, like a Very Busy Woman : > thanks for linking up to Visible Monday!

I like your outfit. That is a cute skirt and I really like the jacket too. But being that I am a hat lady too I am glad you added the hat, a perfect touch.
Fibbing is when you tell a non truth to harm, in your case it was to divert annoying pursuit of a sales person. I say these kinds of things to telemarketers as well.
Hey Sue, what a cute outfit! A jeans jacket is one of the abolutly basics, indispensable. I love how you paired yours with this cute pleated skirt and that fantastic hat! The outfit reminds me a bit to holiday in Italy, only the Vespa scooter is missing.
so nice!
Sue, I actually love the applique on the jacket, it kind of completes this fun outfit. (Its the necklace or accessory). That skirt is just fabulous, you look so good in those short skirts. I'm glad you shared you little secret so we can all use this same lie. I usually get my phone out and just pretend to be in some very important phone call. (Maybe next time, I'll just give you a call).
So fun Sue!! I am a fan of all things plaid, so that skirt hits my buttons!! And you look so sweet in a hat.
Xo,
Alyssa
P.s. still looking into floral therapy, thanks for that info!!
What a fun flirty skirt. Just right for our stretch of fantastic weather here.
Yes, it's hard to avoid those tenacious floggers of credit cards and paid solicitors for charities on every block. Your fib is completely justified.
Haha – I think we've all done stuff like that in situations like that…so don't worry Sue. Love your plaid skirt – you look so cute!

These photos definitely have a sophisticated Anne Shirley vibe. Even the scenery reminds me a bit of PEI. L.M. Montgomery would approve.
I was one of those annoying credit card pushers for a very brief time. Very brief, as even I was annoyed by the job. Don't think of your avoidance technique as a lie. Think of it as a time-saving strategy for both of you. Besides, I bet you had A credit card with you, so telling her you already had ONE wasn't really a fib.
Flo, I didn't think of Anne Shirley at the time, but I totally see it now. The phone soliciting is the worst, isn't it!
Yes, it is a 'Megan' bag. Glad you like it.
Okay, now I have to check out Boardwalk Empire…
Oh Marjorie, what a great spin to put on it. Thanks!
I know exactly what you mean Ariane. I guess we have to find balance.
Thanks for being such a wonderful host Patti!
Hi Adrienne, I am enjoying playing around with some of my hats. I buy them, but I don't seem to actually wear them enough. Thank you for the compliment!
Okay, another secret…I'd really like a Vespa scooter! That would be so much fun. What a great visual you've given me! Holiday in Italy. I love it!!
Thanks Snow White!
Yes, good point! It's the jewelry. In fact, when I tried a necklace, it seemed too much! {Note to self: Get a cell phone even if it doesn't work, :)}
Thanks Alyssa. Email me with any questions!
Our weather is flirty with us as well. Rain one minute, sun the next! Enjoy those minutes Melanie!
Thanks for taking the time to comment Annie! Take Care!
Well, we all have to experience the other side of things. I think it gives us a greater understanding, or compassion. And good point about time saving strategy. They need people to sign up, so the sooner they can move on, the better for them.
I've never been to PEI, but definitely would love to go. I always loved the magic of my Anne of Green Gables books!
Sue, you look like a young school girl that is happy and carefree with out any stress or concern. Lucky you. Thanks for you recent visits to my spot on blogland.
Your huz must LOVE this outfit! Every guy's fantasy. You gots some legs on you, Suz! So cute, and I don't know another soul who can make appliqued denim look sexy and sweet all at the same time!
We shop at Sam's Club several times a week for the restaurant … we get all business-y and just try to get it done. For a time, they were trying to sell one of their promotional products to customers AS they checked out, holding up everyone else in line while they pressed people to sign-up. Made me completely crazy. Of course, I had to spend additional time marching up to the service desk and demanding to know what they were flipping thinking! Dan just stood back and observed the massacre.
I've never had any trouble expressing my opinions.
They don't do it anymore … not because of me, but because I wasn't the only one complaining.
You're so sweet to worry about that little lie. You're saving the poor girl time and trouble, so she can get on to someone who wants the service!
Nice harmless trick. A denim jacket is something should never lack in a closet!
Now there's a line that I can use! Thanks for the tip.
You're looking like spring in this jaunty outfit, with the straw hat topping it all off. Your backgrounds are always spectacular!
Darling ensemble. The the flippy skirt is memorable (jaunty is right!). Hooray for spring! And hooray for momentary clipboard evasions… (= Lynaea @ EveryDayBloom.com
Great find with the denim jacket & I love the design! I too always say I have a card then they run away looking for the next victim! lol about the cheery blossom street…I found it by taking a wrong turn to Turnabout! I still do not know my way around the suburbs after all these years…but Vancouver I could drive blindfolded!
Hope you are enjoying the week Sue.
Denise
Such a cute skirt and your photography is always breathtaking!
Hi Alison, thanks so much for stopping by!
Serendipitous to find yourself on that lovely street. Can't wait to share my version too.
You are right .. that jacket is perfect with that skirt! The skirt is so bright and colorful, love it! pippa
Sue this is super duper adorable!!! I love your skirt and your denim jacket looks perfect with the entire outfit. I love affordable finds like that. I must mention that my favorite item from this outfit is the hat, I adore hats and this boater style has become one of my favorites. You pull it off so well.
Thanks Sue for warning me about my feed, I went and did a ping and resync to my feedburner. I hope it works now and update my posts to subscribers.
Thanks again Sue, you are a doll!!

I don't think I ever would have thought of that kind of way to get a salesperson to stop bothering me. I usually just hide. I'm fairly good at hiding in the store. I like your jacket, and it really does go well with the skirt!
