CORAL :: NAVY :: WHITE…
Hey Peeps! Remember Hollywood Squares and Circle Gets the Square? My family watched the Tic Tac Toe game show regularly. The original air date was 1966, so we very likely were watching it in black and white, at least during the earlier years. Aside from classic film, most of us can not imagine watching a TV show or a movie in black and white; yet many of us live our lives wearing…black and white. So, will this be the year that you add colour to your life?
Coral, navy and white. Fabulous, tropical colours! And, although I appear to be living in the banana belt of Canada, it’s still way too cold to be outside while wearing just a sweater…even if it is the coolest Happy Face sweater. Just sayin’. I love the gauntlet style sleeves, the flirty hemline, and Hello…I love me dearly that navy blue Smiley Face.
Okay-dokey, over the next few weeks…all of February actually…you will find me at my sewing machine. Not actually, like every minute of every day all of February, but I am optimistically planning on sewing a couple of garments for the upcoming Season 3 Sew-A-Long of Project Sewn. No panic…I’m not in the real challenge…I’m happy to leave that to Oonaballoona and others, but a sew-a-long is a good excuse for me to whittle away a teeny, tiny portion of my fabric stash. That, and my little New Year’s wish…I tend to make wishes instead of resolutions ’cause wishes are granted by fairies with iridescent wings and sparkle dust and that’s just cool…anyhoo-how, my wish is to sew some spring/summer clothing before the middle of summer. No panic. No pressure. No worry. For example: Last night I was sewing a pair of trousers and I cut a hole in the fabric with my serger. You see, sergers have this neato built-in cutter that, um, cuts fabric. I don’t think I need to get more technical than that. Due to operator error, I found myself with a gash in my pant leg about 1/2″ wide by 2″ long. Okay, maybe not a huge hole if it were a pothole or even a mole hole, but this was my pants people. GAH… I should have taken a photo of it because I know we all like to see other people’s oops and oh-ohs. Fortunately, there was no panic, no pressure, and no worry. I devised a solution and things are continuing to tick along rather brilliantly. Now, aren’t you looking forward to seeing what masterpieces I conjure? Mwaahahahaha! Stay tuned for February!
A quick add-on here…just returned home from seeing Philomena. I went armed with a pocketful of tissues. Yep, used them all…but it was a beautiful movie, I will say that! Okay editing again…I woke up a few times last night thinking about this film. Perhaps compelling is a more apt description…sigh…it certainly is a thoughtful film.

You've had your hair cut! Very cute! And I love the happy-face sweater too. 🙂
Yes! I got it cut last week…thanks for the compliment!
That sweater makes me smile!!
Squeee! Exactly the plan!
That sweater was made for you!
Your hair looks great. I am so jealous of your weather. It snowed here AGAIN. I am so over this winter.
After reading your story I would have thrown my hands in the air and started to tear my hair out! LOL I can't wait to see your solution.
bisous
Suzanne
Great sweater! I want one!
I just knitted something that reminds slightly of your sweater, for my daughter.
The whole outfit is so pretty!
Always glorious, my dear friend

How fun! The polka dot scarf got me first, then the smiley on the back???? Perfection.
What a fun outfit–and I am loving those boots!
Ah, the days of black and white TV–but yet we somehow knew that Gilligan's shirt was red and the Skipper's blue?!?!
Hahaha…yes that is so true…and that Ginger was a redhead!
I hope it's on the blog…haven't seen it yet though!
I know, Tamera and I are both slightly guilty about the weather over here on the westcoast. We often have rainy springs if that be any consolation…
Honestly, it's funny about these pants…there was something not quite right about them, and I think I was meant to get creative. I will show all next week!
Ah, I love a surprise, so when you turned around this sweater just made ME smile, too! Beside the unexpected smiley face, I also love that it's big and smocky. I love it! And with that dotty scarf, and skinny jeans, you're all smiley-smocky-dotty-skinny-pretty!
PS – I loved Hollywood Squares!
The back is perfect because I was looking at the front and thinking happy cheery the outfit is…keep smiling!

Oh yes, that smiley face is perfect! Love the colours, the spots, and the playfulness. You don't need to persuade me that colour is a good thing, Sue, I'm with you on that one already!
Good luck with your sewing, I'm looking forward to seeing the results. And I rather like knowing that I am not the only one who makes mistakes, I draw some comfort from that! xxx

Sue, you have such a great eye for color combinations. Also, I love how the black and white dots on your purse get a colorful makeover on your scarf.

Another Beautiful Thing
You look divine … beauty that can crack me up is a wonderful quality to own, Sue! You haz it! Adorable, and you look just chic as anything. Bitchen' booties, girl. How's the high-heel project going?
I'm going to try to make a skirt or two for spring. Any tips on handling hems on faux leather?
That sweater is just the happiest sweater I've ever seen! Your scarf is super cute, too!
As I was scrolling down the pictures I thought: “nice, but a bit straight forward”. And then I saw the smiley!! And the polka dot bag….. Solved. I so like it when there is a bit of fun in an outfit. Well done Sue.
As for the hole in your pants… Been there, done that. If it was beyond repair I could get so mad that I would cut up the fabric in little pieces to sooth my anger. (Yes, unfortunately I have quite a temper; trying to control it better.) I look forward to seeing your solution.
And yes we like to see mishaps. I am planning a post with a fashion mistake as well. First I have to get over my vanity, but perhaps you will see it next Monday.
Greetje
That sweater is a find!!!!! lovely outfit as always!
Heehee, the mullet of sweaters. Business up front, party in the back.
OMG! That is so funny!
Oh, Greetje, you are so You! Trust me, I do take out frustrations on projects that don't go well. Fortunately, I was able to keep going on this on.e
